We see a church of real disciples, not part-time believers … people that love God as Father, follow Him as Teacher, and honour Him as King. We see a people that give themselves for one another and the cause of the lost and the least.
We see a church of passion … people who stand so amazed at God’s grace that they can’t help but live lives of adventure and generosity. We see God leading us to spend ourselves for those who could never pay us back.
We see a church where people feel like they can belong before they believe and believe before they have it all sorted out. We also see a church where all ages regardless of background can come together as one family.
We see congregations that love God with more than Sundays and care for people with more than words. We see a characteristically Spirit-filled church that moves in undeniable power. We see a church where people become whole – in spirit, mind, soul and body.
We see a church where the potential of all the members gets realised, as people recognize that they are called, whether they work in a church building or the work place. We see teams that are led by people who are greater on the inside than they are on the outside.
We see a movement of disciples who reorient their lives around Jesus’ call to make more disciples. We see a church that unashamedly and fiercely loves their neighbour both locally and globally. We see ordinary people mobilised to go and change the world.
WE BELIEVE that the Holy Spirit has drawn us to follow Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. We have publicly confessed our faith through baptism and confirmation. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit to a common life that is characterised by the love of Christ. Together we will do all we can to pursue godly knowledge, holiness, spiritual care and the expansion of his church.
WE WILL regularly engage in worship and the celebration of baptism and communion. We will hold one another accountable to the discipline of Christ-likeness, and we will ground our lives in Christian doctrine.
WE WILL contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor and the spread of the gospel through all the nations.
WE PLEDGE to engage in family and private worship, to teach our children the ways of Christ and the content of Scripture.
WE COMMIT to speak of our faith to our friends and family. In the world beyond the church, we will pursue to live Christ-like lives. In our work we will be honourable; in our commitments and vows, we will be faithful. And in our personal behaviour, we will be people of integrity.
WE RENOUNCE the temptations of gossip and uncontrolled anger.
WE WILL be restrained in our wants and be responsible stewards in the use of money.
WE WILL be advocates of biblical justice and reconciliation in human affairs.
WE WILL RESIST evil and any appearance of it that offends others. In contrast, we will do all we can to advance the kingdom of God. We will care for one another in Christian love.
WE WILL PRAY for one another, come to each other’s aid in times of sickness and difficulty.
WE WILL be sensitive to each other’s feelings and respectful toward one another in our communications. When we have been offended, we will not strike back. And when we have done wrong, we will acknowledge our responsibility. Together we will pursue the ways of forgiveness and reconciliation, and, as Jesus taught, do it as quickly as possible.
WE BELIEVE in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.
WE BELIEVE in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
WE BELIEVE in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
